Meet Manny

Post by bearandoldman » Tue Dec 07, 2010 6:31 pm

A new member has joined the crew here. Picked him up at a gun shop in a small town about 15 miles southwest of here. His given name is " Manfred Von Scheutemup ", but we will call him " Manny".Image Image
Excuse the mess in the shop, got a couple of woodworking projects in motion at the time.

Shiny!

That's the "international" model, right? Is it a carbine-type tapered barrel under all that wood? Any other differences from the standard models beyond the spiffy stock?

I'm jealous of your workshop space, to hell with the clutter/mess! I have to do my gunsmithing on a folding table in the living room, and I have to clear off the clutter from it before I get started ... you win, B&OM.

Also, I approve of your photography stand, appropriate to the composition without distracting from the focus, a fine example of modern photography in the bang-bang category

Would the northern range of black oaks substitute?

Haka, yes, it is the international model. The barrel is the standard carbine barrel, the stock and end cap are the only real difference. The receiver is the shiny black finish and the barrel is polished and blued and not dull parkerized. T%he end cap is not a barrel band it just fits up next to the barrel and not really holding it.
The workshop is a fairly well equipped woodworking shop, did a lot of it in my younger days, still do a little when I feel like it.
The photo stand was just handy parts at the time.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Right, and I even have the proper hat to wear when I do it, my son lived in Germany for 4 years when he worked for HP. He lived in Stuttgart and sent me one, but it does not have the boar's brush in the hatband his does.

Weren't those called Jaeger Hats? You could affix the pins to represent bagging those spinners (Petey/Paul?) and badges to represent marksmanship achievements of Manny. Regards

Nice to meet you Manny. You went to a good home, and will be well taken care of (assuming he behave's himself).

Like the hat too. Say Hi to Bear.

That last picture looks like Bear is more interested in a nap than Manny. That's a sharp rifle for sure. Good shooting with it. :)

You got to admire a dog's attitude, if they are not hungry or thirsty and there is nothing really interesting to do, like barking at the mail delivery person, kick back and take a nap.

Manny now has a scope and he insists since it has only one lens that it is a monocle and makes him look distinguished. Now insists he came from the original feudal families in old Deutschland and must be called by his full name and title " Baron Manfred Von Scheutemup" or just " Baron "
Will send out a pic of the Baron as soon as I make enough room in the work area to rake one. He should be going to the range on Saturday, weather permitting.

Well, we will see if The Baron shoots right out of the box, and we will be pulling for him. If, however he sprays a shotgun pattern at 25 yds then perhaps he will be Barry until he gets sorted out
