USMC 40X

Post by KAZ » Sat Mar 06, 2010 12:25 pm

Out of a 20,000 piece government contract placed in the mid 1950s with Remington for 40X 22RF target rifles for marksmanship training programs approx 2,800 were for the Marine Corps and are marked USMC PROPERTY. Other than the marking they have been in continuous production by Remington and are still available as a Custom Shop item. Mine is one that saw service and was returned to the CMP for civilian sale. They have a very high round count, and this one was produced in 1958. They were used with an excellent set of target peep sights, but my old eyes require this 8X32 scope. The good news is that it appears to be a shooter 8)

The 40x's were always nice, even coming from a '52 fan...
