they want just the frame sent in, that makes it easy as the serial number is on the receiver. I thought the safety was just a trigger bloc, the IV, must be different or they just ran a bunch of bad parts

If it was just a parts replacement, easier to do it yourself. However, Ruger's liability is too great for them to let yahoo's like me replace parts.

Lots of whining on Rimfire Central. People can't get their gun to duplicate the problem, or they have Volquartsen parts that eliminate the problem, or the recall will ruin their $100 trigger jobs. Many are claiming they won't do the recall, and bad-mouthing Ruger. It's a little disconcerting to hear such a bunch of cry babies who also handle deadly devices called firearms. I hope this recall is the hardest thing they ever have to do. They even get a free magazine for their trouble.

I believe Ruger has long had a policy of replacing non-standard parts with their parts. Probably something to do with liability. If I were to return one of my VQ mod pistols, I'd replace the original parts before it went and put the VQ parts back in on return.

If VQ fixes the problem, why would you return the pistol for recall?
