How do you remove the old magazine release so you can replace it with a extended magazine release

Field strip the pistol. Next you have to remove the hammer and bushing. After that you press down the piano spring on the right side of the trigger and remove the trigger and trigger pivot pin.

Then you swing that piano spring backwards, see that same spring is actually holding the magazine release button in the frame. (If you look at the picture above, you can see the other end of the spring, at the bottom, holding the release button in the frame)

Once you've pivoted the spring rearward, you can press on the right side of the magazine release button (looks like a half moon shape) and it will move the whole release button assembly out of the frame to the left. Place the new one into the left side of the frame and then swing the piano spring back forward and down into its position in the trigger slot. Return the trigger and trigger pivot pin. Then replace the internals, hammer, bushing, disconnector lever, etc. Check the operation of the magazine release before reassembling the pistol just in case you have any issues with positioning. Reassemble the pistol and you are done.
