Recoil Spring Direction on Rod?

Post by Mountain Man » Sat Nov 09, 2013 4:08 pm

Boy, am I embarrassed! Reassembling my S&W 41 today (for the X,000th time!) I suddenly found myself with the question of which way the recoil spring goes onto the rod?? I believe that I have had it with the tight, compressed coils on the rod but, the manual shows it with those coils forward and the open coils on the rod??

Straighten me out!

The direction of the open and closed end of the recoil spring really doesn't matter on the M-41.
