Feeding problems

Post by Chopperdoc » Sun May 05, 2013 11:05 pm

Worked on a friends Ruger mark II competition model. Gun fed flawlessly with CCI blazer prior to the installation of a VQ extractor and VQ trigger.

Took it to the range today. With several magazines that previously ran fine, the gun repeatedly failed to feed. Looked like the angle of the bullet was too steep. Sometimes, we could tap the rear of the bolt and seat the round. The gun then fired the rest of the mag flawlessly, the same thing happened when we manualy chambered a round, then inserted a full magazine, it fired the remainder of the mag just fine.

I am thinking the new extractor may be causing this, I cannot see why the trigger would be causing it.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated

Thanks

Vic.

The case may be having some difficulty getting underneath the new extractor claw which is affecting the timing of the feeding cycle. Was there a reason for changing out the original extractor?

My friend and I both shoot the local Ruger rimfire matches. The gun ran fine; we were just looking for some increased reliability.

Guess I'll swap the old one back in.

Thanks

Maybe polish the new one a bit.

Wow, mine did the opposite. Dirty gun? hollowpoint ammo?, break in period?.
Sorry, that's the best I can do.

The bottom lower edge of the claw may be too sharp and need a slight beveling.
