That's just too much leading, from too little shooting. Lead is a pain to remove, but I have a secret formula that helps. I don't know how good or bad it is for metal, but I use it for my SS revolvers, although it might hurt blued finishes. It's 50% Iso Alcohol, and 50% peroxide mixture. I soak parts for about 15 minutes and it comes off like butter.

Trying ~ 150 rounds of Federal copper clads, I find that there is little difference in the leading. This picture of the cylinder shows what it looks like before cleaning.

Then I tried cleaning with a rag & Hoppe's. No good. Scraping with my fingernail removed some, but mostly just gave it a shine. Frustrated, I took a wire toothbrush to it and the lead came right off.......along with the finish. It was bright stainless. So, what the heck, I wire brushed the entire outside of the cylinder and it looked nice. Wiping it off with a rag that had Hoppe's on it, I was shocked that the black came back. It looks like new (except in the locking slots).

Got it ready to go back to Ruger (again). Been trying to get through to get a RMA and shipping label, but they seem to be having trouble with phones. I wait...wait...wait, then get cut off.

Finally got through this AM. The LCR 22 is on its way back for the third time. I'm betting they get it this time.

I'll hope that this time you get a replacement like I did. Seems like the best solution. You have really been through it with your LCR.

My only issue with Ruger now is that I've been waiting three weeks to be reimbursed for the FFL's fee that received it for me.

I'll be happy if they just get this one right. I like the way it shoots, just don't like the lead spraying all over it and my hands. I think it will be OK if they can get the cylinder gap down to a more normal gap. The lady on the phone said she was making a note that it was coming in for the third time, implying that they should do it right this time. We'll see.

Got a call from Ruger CS this morning and they are going to replace the LCR 22 with a new one. Said it would take a couple of weeks.

I'm happy for you. It should be in the 29 thousand serial range like mine, or higher. I feel that Ruger has them right, now. I'm happy with mine.

FWIW, I got my reimbursement check for the FFL fee yesterday. So my issue is resolved. One month for the LCR replacement, and another month for the fee reimbursement.

Still no replacement. Got a call from Ruger Monday and they told me that they had not received a copy of FFL from the dealer, yet (their copy had expired). Called dealer and they said it was sent two weeks prior. Dealer called Ruger rep that was handling my replacement and hopefully it was straightened out. Naturally, there was a huge storm in the area, too. That is likely to back things up even more.

I'm rooting for you. It seems they are locked into needing a month on these wayward LCR-22s, and you are a few days short of that.

I'm in a waiting game, to go shoot. The forecast a couple of days ago said today would be sunny and 63. That got downgraded to wet and 50. So I'll hope next weekend will be decent for my likely last range trip of the year.

Last range trip of the year??? I still go out in the snow, but not if it below 20 or the range road is too icy to get up the hill..... But I'm still reletively young and stupid.

Yep, I can't imagine anyone who would go to an outdoor range in Michigan between Christmas and New Year's pretty regularly for the last few years.

Not all your relatives are all that stupid. some of the time. relatively. depends on the comparison. Maybe

I will if the temp is around 45 and the wind is calm. Been there and done that more than once, me and Joe.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.
