Blued slabside?

Post by Yleefox » Tue Jan 18, 2011 9:22 pm

I've been trying for some time to determine if Ruger ever build the MK II competition slabside in blue instead of SS. Does anyone know for sure one way or the other?

I just bought a Lipsey's government comp 512GCL target. It is a blue slab.

My shooting buddy has a MkII 10" blue slabside. Needless to says, it shoots pretty well.

After I shot it the first time, I bought my MkIII. Way too much fun to pass up.

I probably should have been a bit more specific when I asked this question. What I meant to ask is, does anyone know if Ruger manufactured their Mark II competition slabside (6 7/8 inch barrel) in blued steel as opposed to their SS model.

I know that some of their Mark III shorter barreled slabside pistols are blued, as well as perhaps some of their distributer specials.

Just wondering

I believe at one time the Ruger website showed a blued competition model available in the list of Mark II pistols.

If you open or download the MKII instruction manual, the parts list shows parts for Competition - Blued Models.

Thank for the info Phil. I'll check out their owner's manual online.
