what is that nub for on the back of the factory trigger

It is there to prevent a partially seated magazine from disabling the gun. The Mark III has a magazine disconnect safety and the new magazines have an additional bump stamped into them on the upper left side. The trigger nub engages that bump and can seat a nearly locked mag by trigger pull leverage action.

If you ever try to seat a full magazine (bolt closed) with the trigger nub, your trigger will act like it's on safety. So you will know if something is wrong when the trigger pull goes from 3# to >50#. It's useless, if you want to use a pre travel adj on the trigger you will need to grind this off. It's not on the MKII or MKI.

Yes, this nub can interfere with a Mark III pistol with the pretravel modification. That's why the newer Mark III VQ triggers do not include the nub. Grinding it off will work, so will using a Mark II trigger.
