Post by toyfj40 » Fri Jul 28, 2006 7:24 pm

my newest addition...
Ruger "Great 8"
IF it fits
Great Eight
Target

Bear&OldMan is partly to blame, as he put me onto this one.

Glad you got it, hope you made a fair deal and had t\no trouble getting it into the stae of Texas. Big guns belong in Texas and now I can do whatever I want with mine, guess I will keep it like it is with the big scope on it. Guess I never paid attention befor and did not realize it had the much sought after competition target on the reciever.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Balance? the 2nd photo is me TRYING to hold it up!!

It just came in, and Sat is 'work day' at our range...
so, I'll be a little while checking it out... but all looks fine
and I do believe it was a good-deal for me...
There is another Ruger-Phile in our club that just happened
into the gunshop before I got there to pick it up...
the owner told me XX has been in here "drooling" on your
pistol...
It stripped easily, thumb-nail to release the latch and thumb-pressure
to push the barrel off... I looked it over and put it back...
I guess I have graduated from the Novice-Ruger-(dis)Assembly
postings...
I still expect my MK2 22/45 5.5" BlueBull to continue to get the most
shots... I'm starting to imagine some marked-consistency in my
OffHand-groups at 15 & 25yds... maybe I can start thinking
about that S-A 'Mil-Spec'
Ya'll have a good weekend... we're set for 100F for several more days,
probably about 40 more !!

Yes they are a little muzzle heave, in fact the P512 with a loaded mag is a little more muzzle thatn my full size 1911, that is why I always thought that a 4 to 4-1/2 would be about the same. Originally thougth about cutting th eGreat Eight down but now will keep it with the scope on it. That big scope balances is out fine if you can lift it, it is a bench gun for sure. Oddly enough, I have 2 P512's beacuse I like them and it was the last of the Mark II's and one of them will consistently opt group the other and the P8GC, Have shot them all friom a rest with the scope and they all group well, but theat one just groups better. Like you avatar Arli, is taht your new custom license plate?

it is generated from on OnLine-Plate-Generator
(hmmm, do people get sent to internet-prison to make them ?)

http://www.acme.com/licensemaker/

and select your STATE and YEAR (they have several YR-plate-Designs)
and enter your TEXT for the plate.
It will generate the plate as a .gif/.jpg file...
You will likely need a local-image-program to ReSize it
to fit the reduced Avatar-size-requirements...
that's it... have fun.
