How about driving a couple hundred miles to shoot prairie dogs and leaving the bolts to BOTH rifles at home. I was left with a carton of 22's for the 10/22 and a hundred rounds of 45LC for the pistol.

That was 35 years ago, haven't repeated it since.

FWIW
"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.” – George Washington

I would have bought a new rifle to match the ammo I had ready.

Now you're thinking Haka, as you pretty much always need another gun.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Hmmm, I wonder if that would work with the wife, leave the rifle home on purpose, giving you an excuse to buy a new one !

No, no, she's definitely the "better half".

Haka, you need to work a little harder. My bride is always happy when I bring a new firearm home. She knows that I work hard to support her in the life of luxury she enjoys and does not begrudge me life's small pleasures.

At least I'm pretty sure that's what the tight smile and "that's nice, dear" means.

Or you could get a new gun case to go with the rifle and tell her you got a new rifle case.

I've always referred to mine as my "occasionally better half". I might not mind being able to "occasionally" rent a different one for contrast...... :lol:
* 2 Ruger Bearcat stainless, w/ EWK ejector housings & Wolff springs
* Ruger SP-101 .22LR, w/ Wolff springs
* 2 NAA Guardian .32ACP
* 3 Zastava M70 .32ACP
* S&W 15-22 Sport (.22LR AR)
* 2 Ruger SR22 .22LR pistols

Sometimes a "contrast" can help you appreciate what you have. Many women help me notice my wife's best qualities, because they don't have them.

It's too late for "brown nosing" Ruger, the damage has been done. You better buy her something real nice for sweetest day. (and Greener the same)
