School board shooting

Post by bearandoldman » Fri Dec 17, 2010 9:21 am

Watching Fox news this morning and Geraldo was on and gave his opinion on this incident, and I really have to agree with him. The shooter really did not intend to hit anyone and was trying to get the security to kill him, so he did not have to do it primarily himself. How could anyone stand there and fire that many shots and not accidentally hit someone???

The same way I watch people come to the indoor range for the first time. They rent a gun, put up a ANT-4 target at 15 yrds and empty a mag (gangster style) and never hit the target. This is when I'm glad I'm not near them. Lucky for us old timers they put us together away from new shooters.

From the video I just watched again he looked like he was taking a deliberate aim and not rushing his shots and shooting from the gangster position. At that range point and shoot with my J would have decimated the board. Looks to me like Geraldo may be right.

The thing that stands out to me is the Women who came in behind him(left her place of safety) and struck down his arm could have used a little help to subdue the shooter. Instead they just sat there and allowed him to recover like spectators. I'm really thankful that she was unharmed. Regards

If you watch the video closely, the second shot goes into the floor, right in front of him. He doesn't appear to be aiming at all.

I think he was trying to hit someone.

What amazes me is the security guard hit ONLY the shooter.

Here is a link to a video of the shooting, if anybody hasn't seen it.

It must have been a scary situation being at the mercy of this lunatic.
The lady has a set of family jewels not many other have.
It does appear that his main intention was dying.
Times are tough, we should all be on the lookout for crazies.

So .. who thinks that this incident would have occurred if the school board building wasn't a gun free zone?

Someone with that little skill and not enough determination to just off themselves probably wouldn't try out this little violent fantasy anywhere there might be armed victims.

And the purse-wielding lady would have been far more effective with even my smallest weapon, but she gets major points for determination. She was obviously wearing brass ovaries on the outside that day, and I can't believe nobody got out of their seat to take down the wannabe-Cho when she provided a distraction.

Better video than I've seen on TV. The guy was aiming. He may have planned suicide by cop, but he was aiming at the Board President. Just a lousy shot.

I agree with BAOM. Security guard, a retired cop, fired aimed shots that hit the target. Considering he was on the run into a situation where folks were getting shot at, I figure he did darned well. I never had to do that and hope I never have to find out how good a shot I am when it really counts.

Agree with the gun free zone, dave. However, there are places you just don't figure you need to go armed. I once thought they were college campi and buildings like this. Guess I was wrong.

Greener. there are places where you should not really need a gun, but it sure is a good feeking tio have oone. Personally never leave the gouae without one. Mowing the lawn armed is a usual occurence here.

Heard her interview on Fox. She said she really didn't think about it, just seemed like the thing to do.
