Barret 50 Cal Rifle

Post by Hakaman » Thu Nov 11, 2010 3:16 pm

A friend of mine bought one of these 50 cal rifles:
http://www.impactguns.com/store/BAR-95-BORS-KIT.html
Here are some photos of it's capabilities when shot at a section of 3/4" plate steel.
He said it went through the plate steel like butter, through a large log it was propped up against,
and then disappeared into the berm behind that, never to be found. The round is an imtimidating ballistic tip,
that is supposed to be armor piercing.

Watched a couple of guys shooting them at the indoor range I used to frequent. They were hooting prone in the 4 bay range and you could feel the concussion through the sound proof windows and wall and , Damn did them muzzle brakes sweep the floor clean.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

A friend of mine has one but I'll just watch as he shoots it. Way out of my league. I think he said he paid $7,000.00 for it on sale.

He said he was shooting at about 50 yards. Surprisingly, he said the recoil is "less" then most of his hunting rifles (30-06, etc).
He says it's "nothing" to shoot this rifle, in terms of kick. He stated, "This is my baby"!

I don't recall that much recoil. Apparently SWMBO did. Perhaps she had it a bit loose. I do recall a heck of a muzzle blast. The muzzle blast was kicking up dirt and blowing the blanket back.

I thought there was more recoil from the Vaquero with the 325 gr Keith semiwadcutters loaded for about 1200 fps.

Nice reply Greener, good pics. I bet the muzzle blast would be a sight to behold at night time!
