What an interesting concept. And, like you said, it looks innocuous enough to not arouse suspicion.

It is quality ammunition. The brass is very good as well.

Most of the surplus ammunition is drying up. At one time there was surplus 8mm from Turkey, and 7.62x54 Russian from Albania and Bulgaria.
It seemed like a limitless supply on the cheap.

That is gone as well.

I have to admit that I frequent all of the ones mentioned above in pretty much the same priority order. There's others, when I have the time, but I'm usually just looking to help anyone who's having problems and needs a little advice to get them back out shooting again. R, Bullseye You have helped ...

Just a thought, but coupled with Bullseye's comments about dipping temperatures, could dirty magazines be part of the problem??

Cooler temps coupled with dirty magazines could be contributing.
Dis-assemble and clean.

I use a Dewey Ultimate Oiler ( I use Hoppe's oil) to put a tiny drop on each pivot pin and spring. I put a drop on a cotton swab to wipe where the bolt contacts the receiver, and the firing pin channel. Too much oil is bad. There are several good precision oil bottles on the market, Dewey's was jus...

Yep. At our range there is. Three round burst, pause, another three round burst.
The exception is the falling plate range.

Re: The Other Side of the Coin

There are always anecdotal cases where someone successfully took game that maybe they should not have. Any time a question comes up concerning the suitability of a caliber someone will make mention of having succeeded taking such and such game with some borderline round. But they seldom bring up th...

In the book "Cartridges of the World" by Frank C. Barnes, one of the calibers mentioned, I believe it is the 7 mm Mauser, has taken almost all big game in the world. Including elephant. It's been a while since I have looked it up and no longer have a edition of this book. Mr Barnes states that altho...

I too would like info about this product. I have found the Birchwood Casey Super Blue superior to both Brownells Oxpho Blue and 44-40 Bluing solutions. I could never get the depth of bluing that I like with the Brownell products. Gently warming the parts did help though. This was not for complete bl...

If I had it to do all over again, I would do the VQ sear and VQ trigger with outside adjustments. Oh how much easier that is to adjust!! This used to be called the Delta trigger when it was still being done by gunsmith tinkerers at home. The new VQ trigger allows for pre-travel adjustment without th...

Too Bad.

That would have been a nice acquisition of a quality piece at a very reasonable price. As stated previously, shipping and FFL fees would mean
additional charges, but still quite reasonable.

I've been watching for a couple of days and neither the national or local news has mentioned a thing about it. Overturning a 30 year old ban is good news but not many will hear about it. R, Bullseye NBC covered it. CBS, ABC, and CNN, did not. Can't comment about FOX. I would have missed it though. ...

You are correct. With proper shot placement the .243 will take larger game than deer. You also reinforce the point that the .243 has harvested deer successfully and quickly. Nosler makes a 100gr bullet, on the light end for elk. I still think that the .243 is not an elk calibre. As I stated, there a...
