Merry Christmas
Bullseye mentined a few day ago that GTO "Traffic has slowed down to a crawl". Crawling or not, I've very much enjoyed being a member. Everyone is so nice, and helpful when they can be. I've gotten valuable information that helped me decide a purchase, improve a gun, or solve a problem. Thank you al...

Re: Election Day
My preferred competition among gun makers would be to see less plastic, more steel and wood. I doubt that's going to ever happen. Too many younger hi-tech types out there, sold on plastic by ARs and Glocks..... :?: My not yet made wish would be for Ruger to make a Bearcat sized top-break .22 revolve...

Re: Election Day
:D ......Poor babies are still in shock and whining. The media is still pumping out every story they can dream up to make us afraid of Trump. I know that he was absolutely the better choice, but I still have reservations. His gruff style and loose cannon mouth can be a problem. Not the most diplomat...

Re: Gun Cleaning Patches
I stick to ready made. I noticed a long time ago that with Hoppe's patches for .35 caliber, you get 650 patches for six bucks (at Gander). With Hoppe's .22 patches, you only get 500 for the same price ? ? ? ? Makes no sense, since the .22s are a lot smaller. Fine with me, as the .35 actually works b...

The new Ruger Mark IV Target and Hunter
I'm greatly surprised it's not posted here yet (or did I miss it?) It's all over the other forums. http://www.ruger-firearms.com/products/markIV/overview.html http://www.gunblast.com/Ruger-MKIV.htm (the usual fluff review, but good info and photos) I've learned I'm just not enamored of .22 semi-auto...

Wow! Someone here is still breathing....greener wrote:Carry revolver or semiauto. Depending on the mood
What is a revolver or semi-auto "mood" ? That's a new one. I'm stuck in revolver mood. I have too many visions of a semi misfeeding or jamming.

July 4th
I hope everyone's having a pleasant, safe Fourth. Drizzly here, with storms forecast that will probably cancel fireworks. Soggy cookouts today, if any. Kind of reflects the condition of the country, but there is still hope it can get better. Needs to get a lot better. I find it hard to feel patrioti...

Re: Hearing Protection?
I'm not sold on the electronics yet. Expensive, circuits to fail, and batteries to die. Same reason I won't use electronic optics. I overheard one guy relating how electronic muffs missed a next bench over blast and his ears rang for a week. I use conventional Howard Leight LOF muffs. Low profile is...

Another "assault rifle" shooting
I know everyone has heard about it, many times over. Shooter was 29 year old New York born citizen, with Afghan parents, Had a carry permit and security guard registration. A registered Democrat. Obvious background checks did no good, but that won't faze the anti-gun people. Now we have to endure th...

What's with slow GTO?
We've got this great new format, a few new members, and a lot of crickets chirping. Things are really slow. Maybe everyone's like me. There actually aren't any guns I want right now, and I couldn't afford them anyway. I've got enough ammo to more than hold me through the 2020 Presidential election. ...

Re: S&W Victory .22
I've handled one. I liked it until I saw that while most of the frame IS stainless, the grip frame portion is polymer. Otherwise I might have considered buying one eventually. Just call me a dinosaur, I don't like plastic in my guns. I still think it will give Ruger's Marks some stiff competition.

Re: Scarred 1911 from Battle Of The Bulge
I noticed that the left side was in good shape. I'd like to think that the pistol taking so much maybe saved the wearer's life, somehow.

A DAO snubbie. Just point and squeeze, can't get any simpler. They will eat most anything you feed them, too. I like my LCRs just fine.

Scarred 1911 from Battle Of The Bulge
I found this article on another forum, and know there are more than a few 1911 fans here. An amazing relic of WW2: http://www.guns.com/2015/12/21/this-shrapnel-damaged-m1911-is-relic-from-battle-of-the-bulge-13-photos/?utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&utm_content=5679b52504d3017924e83d75&ut...

Re: M41?
I looked it up. $1199 is definitely proud. I don't know much about 41s, but there are other grips for them if you had any green left after buying it.
