I tolerate ours, for a number of reasons: 1-makes a good trainer for my PPS (similar layout/size) 2-makes a good point-shooting trainer (it will shoot hundreds of rounds rapid-fire when we practice point-shooting) 3-eats cheap (federal 550) ammo happily (eats CCI minimags better, but I'm actually lo...

Whenever I think of it, so between 1000 and 3000 miles driven, and before every major road-trip.

That is why real words work even better yet, just say what you mean, us old phartes understand that better. It doesn't require advanced years to be annoyed by vague acronym use (VAU). If someone is posting about a problem with a model I am familiar with, I'll generally take a swing at diagnosis, in...

for casual carry, I have the North American Arms Mini Mag. It comes in .22mag. and can be gotten with a second cylinder for .22lr which is a lot cheaper to practice with. The gun is made in the USA and is VERY WELL MADE!!!!! I got one recently for a toy, and to remove MrsBFD's excuses for not carry...

IWB works for me year-round, but I'm rarely seen in anything other than a camp shirt and slacks/cargo pants.

A carry gun is not meant to shoot targets, I wasn't asking about bullseye scores with it, I was just wondering how it did at the range. I the target is 20ft away I am sure going to hit COM. That does the job, All I demand from a carry pistol is the ability to get good COM shots on a small silhouett...

Nice! How does it perform on targets? One thing I wish I had on my PPS was the night sights, not that I am in the habit of getting into late night gunfights, but it would be nice to have the GitD sights on my home defense pistol. Those look easy to see, I assume they are the kind that has to be char...

I'm glad I bought a Henry before a semi-auto .22, I have more fun, get more valuable rifle practice, and end up shooting less ammunition per hour ... plus I can shoot CB shorts.

Incredible. Could you hear the metallic clanking as he walked?
You know that heroics like that aren't performed with future admiration in mind ... but he should still get free drinks for life.

If you don't mind my asking, what did you wind up giving for it? MSRP seems to hover around $700 but can't find a street price on it. I think I dropped about $650 that day, but there was a 100-pack or two of WWB 9mm in the bag as well, and I got a cash discount from a LGS. $700 would be a bit steep...

Just surfed around a bit and looked at the PPS. I LIKE it... Wait until you have one in your hand ... hard to put down, makes haggling sort of hard when you obviously want THIS ONE and RIGHT NOW. Luckily I had MrsBFD helping, and I got it down about $50 from the shelf price with an extra mag thrown...

Walther PPS 9mm ===(EXTREMELY concealable/reliable, a bit pricey) My primary carry in the summer is a Walther PPKS. I absolutely LOVE that weapon! It's older'n dirt, pre S&W, but it spent all it's life as a backup and probably hasn't had 100 rounds fired through it. Lotta holster wear, but I keep i...

Walther PPS 9mm ===(EXTREMELY concealable/reliable, a bit pricey) SA XD (not the XDM) subcompact 9mm ===(reliable, just a bit thick, affordable, has grip and trigger safety) KelTec P-11 9mm ===(very concealable, and reliable - doublestack KT 9mm, comparable to the P-9) http://www.rohrbaughfirearms....

I knew I was forgetting at least one reliable budget 9

The P3AT style of pistol would make a good BUG but not necessarily a good self defense gun. The Springfield XD's above are a good choice for a micro compact pistol or possibly the Glock G26. I have a G27 and like carrying it. The G26 is basically the same frame just chambered for 9mm. Here's a revi...

Oh, I agree that the XD subcompact isn't the best choice for pocket carry, but it is a lot better than the Taurus, at least to my eye when I have the two in front of me. It isn't much more in cost, it has a better safety setup (personally, I don't like the safety lever on the Taurus, and like grip i...
