My choice would be the Savage 24V for hunting. .30-30/20 ga. Deer, quail, grouse in Western Oregon all open at same time and sharing same habitat. Versatile. Simple.

Interesting thread. I've never had a gun that I felt needed stripping down to clean. Break actions, bolt actions are too simple. Some years ago, I did have a MKII stainless, but still never had to do more than a field strip. But now I have a new 22/45 MKIII, blued. Will it need more? I've only fired...

I'm right on the edge and about ready to buy the CT LG-105 for my S&W mod. 36 Chiefs Special. I've been toying with the thought for several months now. Since Uncle Obama is sending me $250, I think it's time. It's my patriotic duty to spend this cash and stimulate the economy. Right? The sights are ...

Jack Volquartsen and Marvel both make triggers with pre and overtravel screws in the at a nominal price. Your trigger already has an overtravel screw in it, but you have to pull the trigger up and out a ways to adjust it. You can also drill and tap your present trigger for a pre travel screw. See s...

I'm building an indoor .22 (.38 sp?) range
Living in the country, I can shoot legally. However shooting outdoors creates friction with my neighbors due to noise. I have a 32x60 metal shop building so an indoor range seemed possible. Firing indoors with the doors shut should muffle the noise and keep the neighbors happy (I hope). Thinking abo...

Re: Mark III 22/45 DS Put together wrong.
Idiot. (Says the guy who's also a mechanic and did the exact same thing. Ever tried to get an improperly assembled firearm back apart after a failed test fire? Ask me for tips. It involves long picks and about three hands.) Glad to know I'm not alone! Kinda like changing the rear spark plugs...

Ruger 22/45 MkIII question(s)
I'm installing a Weigand "no gunsmithing" scope mount that uses the rear sight dovetail. Since I won't have a rear sight, I want to remove the front sight. Question; will the scope mount filler screws fit the front sight screw hole? Are they the same size and thread? What about length?
Thanks

Why don't they make.....or do they?
....a trigger shoe with adjustments. I did a search of the net and can't find one. I quickly designed one and sketched it out around my Ruger 22/45 MKIII trigger. Photo below. Then I did a patent search and found it was patented in 1965. Patent has long since expired, so is in the public domain now....

Ruger 22/45 MkIII field strip problem (solved)
I know. You're all thinking...not another one. But I did a search and didn't find any discussion of my problem. Although it doesn't seem that I am alone with this problem...the manual even mentions it. I owned a Mark II stainless a few years ago, so take down is not new to me. I did learn very quick...
