A variety of smaller semi-autos find their way onto my hip. Mainly it depends on the season and the degree of conceal-ability necessary to avoid patterning my firearm.

Re: Scarred 1911 from Battle Of The Bulge
That artifact from the battle is just a reminder that someone had that pistol secured to their hip in a holster. The degree of damage the pistol sustained exemplifies the sacrifice that some soldier made fighting the axis, because clearly someone sustained a significant amount of damage from that fl...

Re: Brand new Ruger MKIII locked up SOLID!
Hi Wayne, It does sound as if your thread sealant wicked into the receiver and froze the bolt, especially if you had no issues cycling prior to installing the rail. You did a nice job shortening the scope rail. The sealant may not have actually locked the bolt but may have frozen the recoil spring s...

Re: Given up on the LC380
Both of those models have had their problems. I don't know if it was a rush to production or attempting to push out a million or two a year but the bottom line is quality has suffered. I didn't jump over to any of these for my personal collection and just maintained what worked reliably for me even ...

Re: M41?
The stock grips contain a subtle thumb rest bump which is present on both side panels for ambidextrous use and this may be what you are describing. Bargains in M41's are not easy to find but I do run across them from time to time. The last one I bought used for my personal collection was $400 a few ...

Re: Williams Fire Sights, almost
Retiring is not bad, it just takes some readjusting in the ways of doing things. Over time you grow accustomed to doing things a certain way on your own and then you have to make adjustments to take inputs from others and compromise for the results. Having rentals provides an alternate source of inc...

Re: Sight picture
I used to use the blank paper technique to aid in teaching military police officers how to shoot effectively during qualifications. I was often tasked with instructing to those who failed to qualify on proper marksmanship techniques. Often they would not be successful due to target fixation so turni...

Re: Williams Fire Sights, almost
It does take some re-adjusting when the two of you are in the same house all day long. Each have had their own way of independently doing things, now you have to adjust to compromising when working together. I found this to be especially true back when I retired from the service. I had to re-adapt t...

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how these are received by the shooting public.

Re: New Gun Lubricant
I'm certain it is just a bunch of snake oil mixed in with a heaping helping of crocodile tears. Cry me a river! Where were those tears for those soldiers and sailors who were shot by that terrorist in Nashville? He couldn't even be bothered to lower the flag to half staff for nearly a week to honor ...

Re: New Ruger .357/.22 revolver
OK, I have to admit I really didn't look too close at that one when you first posted it. With some of the latest concepts to hit the market, I haven't been all that surprised by some of the wacky ideas that actually made it to production. Your second post made me look a bit closer and I see that I f...

Re: New Ruger .357/.22 revolver
Interesting concept, pushing a release button to remove the barrel and flip it over to change calibers. Indexing is accomplished by internal mechanics of which barrel is inserted into the top position, which also means that the cylinder has to rotate a long way, twice as far, with each pull of the t...

Re: New Style Format
Something else I have discovered with the new software is it now notifies new registrants, and anyone who change their profile email addresses, when I activate/reactivate their accounts. The old forum software did not do that and often I would get messages asking if I have approved their membership/...
