Re: Election Day

I'm indulging my propensity to argue with posts and am in a chat group heavily dominated by liberals. They have been freaking out so regularly that they need the topic du jour just to keep up with what to freak out over. I suggested they pick a date and time for each thing so they could schedule it ...

Re: Gun Cleaning Patches

Sounds like a good idea. I got a "deal" on a bag of patches years ago and have been cutting them down as needed with a pair of shears. I think I'll did through the box of rags we've been collecting for years and start into patch production.

Re: The new Ruger Mark IV Target and Hunter

I handled the MKIV Hunter at Greentop yesterday. Solid, good feel. Trigger slightly better than the stock MKIII. I even pressed the field strip button. Opens easily. The HiViz front sight looks smaller than the one on my MKIII. I think they may have made a hit. Downside: the Hunter was $649. The tar...

Re: S&W Victory .22

Just watched 22 Plinkster's review of the Victory. Looks good.

One thing I'm wary of is that it has a sight base like the Buckmark. I have problems with the Buckmark's sight base staying tight without loctite.

Re: Bolt Action 22

You have a point there about the Model 60's trigger they are not ideal. I have had success in making some of them crisper, but it is not a pleasant task of taking one down to work the trigger. R, Bullseye From the ignorance is total bliss department, I went into the basement to clean my Glenfield (...

Re: The new Ruger Mark IV Target and Hunter

Maybe if I see one I'll add it to my collection. I haven't been all that tempted by the S&W Victory. If you want to change barrels, the Buckmark is easy. I've never bought a second barrel. I have two barrels for my S&W22A. Turns out that I rarely use the 5.5" barrel after I added the 7" barrel. For ...

Re: Carry gun

Sometimes the 442 seems like the thing to carry and sometimes it seems like one of the semi-autos seem like the thing to carry. Whichever strikes me as the one I want to carry at the time.

Re: Jennings 9mm

I found this. Might or might not help http://www.xdtalk.com/threads/jennings-bryco-pistol.14663/ On the back of the slide, where you see the firing pin when you cock the pistol. That is a plastic piece. Ensure the gun is not cocked and empty and then take a pen and push that plastic piece in while g...

Re: Ruger mk1 question

I don't think you will see much difference between the bull barrel and the standard barrel. I prefer bull barrels to standard. I have a 1973 standard and several with bull barrels. The standard shoots fine. I shoot the bull barrel models, especially my MK2 GC better. I think that's me. Look at the g...

Re: Hearing Protection?

I buy the highest NRR I can find, usually around 30. I like the electronic muffs because it lets me hear conversations but the one's I've bought seem to have problems lasting. I'm using a pair of electronic muffs that the electronics quit working. My short distance shooting is on a range with a meta...

Re: The Dark Side

I know of several who shoot reloads through their Glocks factory barrel with no problems. One even shoots lead. He found out you can shoot a hard cast and coated with out any problems. Glock doesn't recommend reloads. No one does. I need to figure out why it doesn't like my reloads. It's not one of...

Re: The Dark Side

The little take-down switch did elicit some technical language. The instructions were general and seem to assume you had 3 hands. One of those do it a few times to get the feel of it. I thought the Glock-reload problem was with lead bullets, so I wasn't worried about my coated/jacketed reloads. I'll...
