misplaced

I think Haka posted that to the wrong thread. It seems to belong to the Misc thread about sharp shooting.. 84 year old Marine.. black hat recipient.. put 3 rounds downrange at 1000 yards.. in a 5 inch group. - all head shots. And I agree.. very impressive at any age.

Why such big crowds

My observation is that the folks I see at the gun shows are typically Not newbies. Generally, they are polite, well mannered and willing to causally chat with her searchers. The industry does seem to be on a rising tide. All the shows are well attended - featuring those very long lines mentioned abo...

Drop check to screen once used reloads

Thanks for the idea, Bullseye. I will pass that on to John. But even so.. he has little confidence in this can of ammo now. Can't say I blame him.

Intermediate update

The story of the blown up Sig continues. Son-in-Law and I expected to see the reload ammo vendor at the gun show on Saturday. However, they did not have a table. The show was full.. all vendor spaces were taken. So, maybe they got locked out. John checked the ammo can and there is a label that says ...

This weekend

The show in Raleigh this weekend was the Capital City Gun & Knife show. They ran it in a smaller building at the Fairgrounds. Every vendor space was taken and the crowd on Saturday was pretty big. This one favored accessories - including jerky and tee shirts, long guns, ammo and knives... maybe 3 or...

Blue - Thanks for sharing all thta background re: the Sig slide manufacturing. I will share that with my s-i-l (his blown up 1911 XO if you will recall). Stork - What a great story about your new shooter "friend". Your willingness to work with her.. is a characteristic of all the good folk I have me...

Ammo Envy

Wow. I have a severe case of ammo envy. I feel like a total slacker when looking at my meager stash. I plan to change that at the gun show tomorrow.

Gun Shows and .. what you get

I do the Dixie show each time it is in Raleigh. It has a really good mix of firearms vendors, ammo vendors, leather goods (bought a handcrafted paddle holster for my SA XDM 9mm - a married couple with their own shop in NC), etc. The holster is now my favorite The price was great.. especially given t...

Gun Show Purchase Stories

Hi, Greener asked me about NC gun show practices elsewhere on this forum. My idea is that this might be a good topic for the Misc subject thread. I admitted that I have not bought any guns at a show. I enjoy going.. Dixie Gun & Knife is my favorite when they come to Raleigh. I have bought ammo, hols...

NC Gun Show purchases

I have 2 remaining Permit-To-Purchase certificates of the 5 I bought from my county sheriff. They were $5.00 each and simple to get - just some paperwork to support the background check. Since then I got my NC CCW permit and that eliminates the need for the PTP certificates. I would judge NC and my ...

Observation

I am not familiar with the debate between internal and external extractors. Is one a preferred / proven better design? I suspect there are arguments both ways. I wonder if the external extractor design by its nature .. introducing a "hole" in the slide versus the internal extractor... mean the slide...

Good laff - good lesson

Thanks for the laffs, lucam. You may not make the next edition of Funk & Wagnall's dictionary... but the crew here enjoyed it. I think I will do some research on the web for a trauma kit to add to my range bag. Don't have one.. thank goodness we did not need one last weekend.. but now realize I shou...
