Green vs yellow

I think this may be relevant. When I was researching lasers - red vs green - I ran across an article that detailed where these colors landed in the visible light spectrum. Green was in the center of the spread and that is what made it "easier" for the human eye to see. Thus making the acquisition on...

Mk III improved

Wagon. Nice shooting. I left my 22/45 slab-side with the gunsmith to drill / tap last Friday. I hope I get similar results with my new Red Dot.

Olde time cowboys and old timers

Ruger22... Congratulations. I trust you will have a lot of fun with those 2 Bearcats. As for Hopalong Cassidy.. now there is a name one does not hear much any more. Yeah, the Lone Ranger is known to all but Hoppy was special.. as was the Cisco Kid. Loved them all as a boy.. even had a 2 gun rig for ...

I can relate

Baldy, I can imagine that restraint at the retail store would be hard. The AGI videos are excellent for showing how all the inner parts work and mate.. and warn you about hidden springs and such. For comparison to what a really poor disassemble / reassemble video can be... some of you probably check...

Correction

Correction: The $40 price is what AGI typically charges for these DVDs.. Midway lists their regular Web price at $16.29 - $40. Still a bargain.

AGI Videos On Sale

Hi, I trust this is relevant for the Misc forum. I am not here to advertise but to advise the members of an interesting set of Sale Items now available on MidwayUSA.com. There are a select set of American Gunsmith Institute DVD's available at: http://www.midwayusa.com/Promotion/default.aspx?promotio...

Getting here & status

B&OM.. I moved to NC when IBM closed their plant in a small town in Indiana - Greencastle. That was 1987. So I can relate to the folks at Lufkin. Bullseye.. thanks for getting that instruction sheet available to the forum members. The link works fine. I was going to drop the pistol at the gunsmith's...

Game on

B&OM.. I work for IBM but know a few folks from Lufkin who were laid off here - 10+ years ago now - and then got a job at IBM. Bullseye.. I sent the Tap & Drill sheet to you via email. I selected a local gunsmith - recommended by a couple of range officers. I plan to drop the pistol off tomorrow. Ru...

Alternatives

Thanks for the suggestion. But the rail is on order and I think I will run down that track. I would hope this will not de-value my gun, per se. Most MK III's come with the barrel pre-drilled with screws to fill the voids... anticipating the future use of a sight rail. I was not aware of this limitat...

Next steps

Hi guys. Thanks for the quick feedback. George.. I am glad you mentioned that Ruger would likely replace my aftermarket parts (VQ trigger, etc).. maybe add the darned mag safety bits back .. and charge me for the work, too. Between that possibility, overall cost advantage and the consensus that a co...

Ruger 22/45 MK III barrel drill and tap

I have a 22/45 MKIII np slab side. Unlike most Ruger MK III's this one does not come pre-drilled / tapped for mounting an accessory rail. Ruger will do the machining for $35, plus $30 for the rail, plus $30 for shipping it back to me. I was expecting they would need only the barrel but the service r...

trigger / hammer

I had a similar frustration the first time I field stripped my 22/45 MK III. Every time I tried to swing the mainspring housing closed, the bolt pin would rotate out / down. I may have found the same YouTube vid explaining the need to depress the trigger and push the hammer up / forward through the ...

slow mags

Bullseye is the technical expert here and his suggestions are to the point. I have found that my mags slide-in and drop-o0t of my 22/45 more smoothly after a light wipe with a Hoppe's silicon cloth. It does a nice finish-up on the exterior after a field strip / clean, too. I am sure this is not goin...
