I personally tested a friend's .25 against a .22 using both Long Rifle and Stingers using filled gallon water bottles and scrap 2 x 4s. The .22 produced better results (read more damage/penetration) each time. I did not even consider using the .22 mags for testing after that. Unless the .25 was an h...

True

Very true Jack,

I did not realize just how much wavering one did until I put a high-power scope on one of my target rifles.

As far as recoil, yes, there is a bit of that as well, and it is more pronounced in a pistol.

I remember those old days and forums. Remember whne Radar was the mod and he was having family problems and he asked you and I and J57ltr to be mods, totally lost contact with all except you,. Eventually the young fellow that ran the forum must have lost interest or something and just shut it down....

Tanks

LOL - That guy is literally going to make a killing from his additional $549.00 fee to smash a car with a tank.

EVERYONE wants to do that.

Yup

I had one old guy tell me once that the carnies used to bore out the barrels to get rid of the lands and grooves. Never verified that myself, but it would sure mess up accuracy I imagine.

Anything to make a buck and us 'rubes' are just free money to them.

Gallery Rifles

When I was growing up, the traveling circus would show up every few years and the rifles I shot nearly all had their front sights 'tweaked' so they would not shoot straight. I just looked at the sights and compensated for it until I got it right. Some of the more obvious ways was to almost tap out t...

New Gun

Don't change your ID... I won't remember who you are ;-)

Grats on the .357.

I used to have a Colt Border Patrol and it was a dream to shoot.

Enjoy!

Just Picked Up a Marlin 1895SBL

Oh Boy! I had read so many horror stories online about the way Remington bought out Marlin and their quality control took a dive on the new Marlin products. I had considered getting several different 45-70 lever rifles, but none were made in America, so I checked out the Marlin offering and the shor...

When I growing up, I learned to shoot handguns with a worn out, misused revolver that had no front sight whatsoever so I became quite an accomplished point and shoot or instinctive shooter. Course back then, it would only take 30 minutes or so to pick up enough soda pop bottles to buy a box of 50 .2...

Pocket pistols are the epitome of point and shoot technology. I don't even know why they have any sights.

Just my opinion.

I have carried a pocket watch (wind type - not that new-fangled battery garbage) for over 50 years.

Some companies actually do make pocket pistol pants though.

Hard drive platters are the metallic (or glass) disks inside your computers hard drive. They make awesome targets. The glass ones are a bit of a pain to clean up though, so I do not recommend shooting them. I absolutely hate leaving my favorite shooting place littered up and normally carry out far m...

Golf balls are good actually (tennis balls would be better though). I can usually get 10-15 hits on a golf ball with a .22 My Mini-14 normally destroyed them in 1 or 2 hits. I also love shooting hard drive platters if you can get your hands on them. Luckily, I had a near unlimited supply due to my p...

I prefer balloons, golf balls, bowling pins, aspirin tablets, clay pigeons... all depends on the distance and preferred stance.

Totally agree that reactive targets are FAR superior to paper for the 'fun' of it.
