I know all the services are looking at new weapons but since I retired in 2004 from NSWC as part of SOCOM, most of my knowledge comes from that service. The new SCAR-L and SCAR-H was and is now I believe the weapon of choice and comes in both light and heavy versions. Light uses the 5.56x45 NATO rou...

I don't see that too much now. My concern is that there is such a proliferation of "airsoft" or replica guns that people use to shoot each other knowing that it won't hurt. There is no sense of gun safety among these individuals at all. Paint guns and these other fake weapons may be all the rage wit...

I live in San Diego and of course this is a navy town. Kragen Auto Parts is one place that offers a military discount among others.......but not any of the big box stores such as K-Mart, Target, etc. I've bought bricks of .22 from K-Mart, Turners, Big 5 and others but can't remember (could be age in...

I believe those Nylon 66's have some collector value because of their age and non-availability now. My recommendation is to continue to shoot them but not to make any irreversible modifications that would detract from their collector value. Since they belong to your Dad you'll probably have them for...

I'm a little late in joining this post it looks like but I have a couple of things to contribute. One is that you might find some interest on the RugerForum for your 10/22 if it has collector appeal or not. The other is to comment on Bil Calfee. I've followed his articles in the Precision Shooting M...

I own two synthetic stocks from McMillan, one on my M1A across the course match rifle and one hunting stock. Both are extremely accurate with no shift in zero year to year that is discernable. Neither have a full aluminum runner. I also have a Remington 700P that has a synthetic stock but not McMill...

Thanks KAZ................I'll be looking for more responses and maybe someone will address the "flex" problem with the Savage syn stock. It might be a good project to under take while I wait for an after market stock to come out.

Savage MK II with synthetic stock

I just bought a MK II and I'm waiting for it to arrive at my dealer and then the 10 day wait..................sigh. It has the accutrigger and the synthetic stock. I've heard some accuracy issues concerning the stock but thought that I could overcome by adding some weight for stability and maybe mod...

Anyone interested in casting bullets should go to Lyman....they wrote the book. No seriously, they wrote "Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook". I have both the 1st. edition and the latest, 3rd edition and either will answer any question you might have concerning casting lead bullets. They will tell you the f...

Can't say as I've ever had a problem with CCI primers and I've been using them for quite some time in various applications. I usually follow the "recipe" more closely for reloading shotshell than for rifle/pistol. For my match rifle though, nothing but Federal Match primers.

I have a S&W K-22 as well as two Ruger OM Single Sixes. One of them has a micro-site front and adjustable rear sight added. The rest of my .22's are all semi-auto. These include High Standard, Ruger MK I and MK III and S&W M-46.

Just to add a little trivia, S&W also produced the S&W M-46 (The .22 Rimfire Single Action Target Pistol) .22LR, 7 inch bbl, Patridge undercut front sight, adjustable target rear sight. Similar to M-41 without hi-gloss blueing and wood grips. This was as good a shooter as the M-41 but sold for $15.0...
