I will have to wait for another week to check these 2 out at the local gun show. I checked and now see that the dates are Feb 26 / 27. So, will get back here with a report in another week.

interesting buut..

The field trip and grips report is great. But for new shooters not familiar with the SA ... a picture would sure help. Or is it really that ugly?

Wow You guys are frightening me.

A grenade! Really? I am an admitted novice at pistol shooting.. and am having the best time - in a long time - for an old guy.. getting into the shooting sports. I guess I am just learning that being safe with handling the gun is important.. but it is not a no-risk sport. That said - I am staying wi...

MK II strange mag issue

I have had a similar mag loading mis-adventrures with the "Ultimate Cliploader" Some rounds standing on end after dropping into the mag.. for example. But have always caught and corrected that. Fox does not say that he used such a loader.. but that seems like the likely culprit to me. Since these we...

Blue Loctite for the hammer / bushing surfaces

I read David's comments about this Blue Loctite on an earlier forum append. It sounded interesting.. and made a lot of sense, too. So i took my MkIII 22/45 slabside apart and added a dab - between the hammer hole and bushing outside surfaces - as he suggests. I will give it a run this weekend. even ...

Mark III mods.. a few more thoughts

Bill... BFD's post sparked a few thoughts that might be useful. Be sure you keep Bullseye's tech detailed strip references / pictures handy unless you are very familiar with this work on a Mark III. Also, you cannot replace the trigger and sear without first removing the hammer, bushing, mag safety ...

What I can say for now

Many thanks to all for the comments and concern for a fellow shooter's safety. And my son-in-law was wearing eye protection when this happened. We are serious about being "Safe out there". He said he may have to wear shooting gloves (suggestions anyone?) for a bit to protect that bruised hand and .....

Wow! That is one nasty, dirty gun. Whatever cleaning solvent you use... you could probably sell the Before and After pics to their marketing staff. It brings to mind a neighbor's old dirt encased truck with the words written in the rear window.. " wash me - Please!". Good luck with the cleanup and b...

Mark III - What mods?

Hi Bill and welcome to the forum. I think you will be very happy with the suggestions Bullseye makes... limit the parts replaced to just those that make a difference. But be warned.. the target sear and trigger will net a significant reduction in the trigger pull / break from the original factory fe...

Once used brass and a blown up gun

Hi y'all. This may be tiresome old news for most of you but I will relay what happened last weekend.. a first for me. My son-in-law & I were at our favorite outdoor range last Saturday. He was punching holes in a target at 10 yards next to me when he suddenly backed off the firing line, dropped his ...

AR focused forum

I agree that a separate forum dedicated to AR15 / black guns is a good idea. I own a sweet Ruger 10/22 and a Ted Williams 12GA shotgun that my dad left me. I have not entered the black gun crowd as yet, but they do interest me. The huge selection, caliber choices and features is a little daunting to...

.22 LR Options - Lots to check out.

Well, whether it is a firm price or a starting place to negotiate... $2900.00 is way out of my league. The Colt ACE is off the table. I like the price range for the Colt / Walther. The P22 looks very good too. Hard to say how closely it matches 1911 characteristics... looks like a poly frame at leas...

Will need to bring a magnet.

Hi, all. Thanks for the on-going interest and feedback. I posted above that a GSG web reference indicated the frame was steel. But others indicate it is alloy. And the barrel bushing in the first models was plastic but on recent versions is steel. So, it looks like I will have to bring a magnet to t...

Thanks for those comments / posts

I appreciate the warm welcome and great response from all. Medicine Hat - thanks for such a clear, balanced assessment of your Chiappa .22. I saw that the GSG advertises that it is a full steel frame and 80% of the parts are "1911 compatible" - skeletonized trigger and hammer even. Although that cla...

GSC 1911 22LR? Chiappa 1911 22 LR

Hi. I have scanned the forum and do sot see where this was discussed already. So, for my first posting... I have a MK III 22/45 slab side and love it. Thanks to Bullseye's great tech contributions I replaced the mag safety bits with a MK II hammer bushing and installed a VQ trigger with both pre- an...
