Blue..
After re-reading Charles' post.. and doing the appropriate Homer Simpson dope-slap (Doh!).. I
see that you are correct.

More likely a new front sight is indicated.. as in taller... not shorter.

I can always count on you guys keeping me on the path.

Charles, That is an interesting gun. I am glad that it works w/o any issues except for the trend to shoot low (would reducing the height of the front sight help?). My first impression is that the grip angle (to the barrel axis) seems too .. vertical. Good luck with your paper testing. Please keep us...

I saw the ad in my Sunday paper also. I stopped at one of the 2 local Dick's on the way back from the range that afternoon. I was also pleasantly surprised that they still had a 1400 count Remington .22 LR Bucket of Bullets on hand ($0.05 per round!) - 1 per customer. There were 2 other guys there d...

My local range has (3) 15 yard pistol pits with various steel targets on each range. When new, the firing line frame was open between the shelf and ground. It seems I was not the only one getting an occasional spent round ricochet off the steel and hit my lower legs. About a month later, the range a...

Greener, I have a membership at the Holly Springs Road range. It is indoors-only now (had an outdoor range, I am told, but the Holly Springs town around it has come too close for that.) The range is called the Wake County Firearms Education & Training Center. (what a mouthful that is!). It is owned ...

Thanks Charles & Greener.
One benefit is: one does Not have to be a great marksman. to be a capable RSO.
You have to have the right... LOOK, tho. (style points!)

Thanks Bullseye. I am looking forward to being an RSO.. and the perks - like range time and a few bucks for the work.

A reality check with this being retired: the money is not there for feeding my gun buying habit.
So, the part-time pay will help there as well.

A new RSO on the range

Hi, I thought I would share a little personal news with the community. I retired from Big Blue after 40+ years last April. I have enjoyed being out of the daily grind. Recently, my local gun range owner asked when I was 'going to help him out'. It seems he needed some summer and upcoming hunting sea...

Al, That is kind of you to overlook my fat-fingered typing. But back to the thread topic... I will be interested in any news / reports on this 'open call' by the army. This posting is the first heads-up I have seen. You would think the trade mags and email spams would have shared this already. I thi...

Umm Sorry for all those typos above. I was not able to spell check my post .. since the wife was jumping up / down on my head to get out the door for an appointment. (I always blame my typos on my wife . Don't tell her, tho ) 8-) Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way of your shooting ende...

I suspect this debate wil rage for a decade at least. I will admit to a string prefrence for well made 9mm autos. (no Beretta, tho) But I really like my new S&W 1911SC. ( The only .45 cal in my collection.) The ripple affects for any US Army sidearm change are likely to ne big and unpredictable. If ...

Ruger,
You got a good deal. A nice, accurate caliper set w/ case for $35.

I have used an inexpensive (aka cheap) caliper for a few years now and - like you - thought about getting an upgrade in quality. I see there are several used Mitutoyo samples out there with prices ranging all over the map. I will be interested in hearing about how yours looks / works. Are you expect...

About 4 weeks ago, I was window-shopping at my favorite LGS and asked about the new Glock 42. They were lucky enough to get several in stock (a gold level dealer for Glock), but all of them sold in 10 days. They had one on lay-away and let me check it out. A really nice CCW pistol if you are OK with...
