Fun at the Range
My SIL and I went to the range Saturday. The outlook was for a chance of showers. Ha! So, while we were on the long gun range.. waiting for monsoon season to clear up a little (we were the only 2 there), the RO brought out his personal S&W 500, 10 inch barrel, Luepold pistol scope and a pistol rest....

Cheers from Coach
Greener, I have been following this thread with interest. You got some great ideas from the forum gurus. I love the fact that you were willing to chase this problem down rather than simply ship the gun to Ruger. You may yet find that there is a mfg error that requires a trip to the factory but, if s...

No Gold I guess
I know some of you recall when .22 rounds were 1 cent each.. I may have been around then, too, but I only started shooting in the lat few years... an old guy.. late to the game. So, I see the benefits of reloading. I am just there as yet. I will have to adjust to the increasing costs until it gets r...

hammer work
I think my urge for tinkering is satiated for now with the changes I made.. noted above. But I did look at "trigger" mod info on the usual websites. VQ, Power Custom and others sell a trigger, hammer and sear.. ala carte.. for about $70. Full lower "target / performance" receivers are touted at rela...

Ammo instead of Gold?
With Gold prices soaring above $1,700 an ounce, many are looking to either buy on the hope it will keep going up, hold what they have for the same reason or seling their old / broken gold bits to cash-out while the price is high. Well I don't have any gold and not the cash to start buy some... But I...

customer service horror stories
Hi Bud, Your experience w/ Beretta is unfortunate.. but surprisingly not unique. Although there are gun manufacturers who are committed to excellent customer service .. there are other that seem to give it lip-service / marketing noise only. Although I have no experience with Beretta.. I can report ...

a gun on the dance floor
Ha! Somehow, that brings to mind an scene (imagined) from Leslie Nielson's Naked Gun. I can just imagine him doing a bug-eyed double-take and trying to recover the gun w/o anyone noticing... and failing miserably.

scar tissue
It is always fun to make up stories to explain acquired scar tissue.
I wonder what story he will dream up to 'splain that one...

Status report
I just installed the mods on my 10/22. The Auto Bolt release is one I know I will enjoy. Bullseye was right tho.. If one has the bolt locked back and pop the stock butt, the bolt will release / fly forward I do not see that as a safety issue if the manual safety is on. The extended mag release looks...

new 10/22 first impressions
The first thoughts that came to mind were
1. Wow! that is a beautiful rifle
2. Where is the trigger?
3. Then I did a dope-slap and saw the vise was clamped there.. duh!
You made a really good choice BAOM. I am sure you will enjoy that for a looong time.

Road trip report
Thanks for the road trip report. I have never been in a Bass Pro store .. and your experiences don't exactly make me think I have missed anything there... Sounds alot like the Dick's Sporting Goods offerings.... - thin to say the least. But the Green Top visit sounds like it was fun. I used to trave...

Update
I ended up ordering the "package" from PFI. It arrived today. The extended mag release is well made, and the laser etched company logo is a nice touch. The package includes a VQ auto bolt release. So, along with the nylon bolt stop, I have all the mods in hand. I will install them on Friday and take...

place your bets
Positive thinking is absolutely essential in all things in life.. including shooting.
But I will bet my money on a good grip, good eyes and good trigger control
