I'm pretty sure that it is powdercoat. beware of using CLP or carb cleaner, as it strips right off if you do.

The interior wear is pretty normal. After a few thousand rounds the action starts feeling like glass. Good choice!

But think of all the money we can put towards the gun funds because we no longer need shampoo.

I use something almost identical to this, but it says "Winchester" on the side. Nice bag, not too big, and easily carries two to three pistols along with all sorts of various ammo. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x89/jjfunk8735/SigSauerRangebag335_250.jpg I like the pistol rugs, kinda like this o...

Front sight screw - again.

Will someone refresh my memory on the front sight screw dimensions? I would swear that it was #6x48, but I just can't remember. Now to the heart of the question though. Would it be worth it to drill and tap for a bigger screw to get rid of the ever constant problem of the darned thing loosening up? ...

I know you didn't ask me, but I just use The basic "Paint" program. Works good. Just make a copy of an original Jpeg or whatever and go to town.

Hey Recumbent, Post some pics and let the rest of us know how you like the Williams. I don't want to go to a dot, but like the idea of better overall sight "pick up" provided by the fiber optic stuff. The Hi-Viz work pretty good, but sometimes the better mousetrap is out there just waiting for someo...

Is the work required beyond the average home tinkerer's ability though?

I would say if nothing else that the striker housing, mating surfaces, and the actual pins and bushings should be able to be slicked up. It is a good question though, as I haven't tried one yet.

I am getting intrigued by this now. Hey Clem, how about a picture? Gonna end up having to do this just to see if it is something that I would like. Does anyone know if e-gunparts or Brownells sells the mag release parts to tinker with?

When handling I thought about the same thing. Didn't feel "cheap" but just felt unfinshed. I will probably go ahead and grab one, probably over the next month or so. After removing the mag safety and maybe polishing up the internals it should be a good pulling trigger. I remember that some of my oth...

Smart marketing I guess, but heck I would think that the fact that we are willing to buy their new MKIII and still buy other of their OEM parts to make our pistols what we want would be a recognizeable market as well. Hmm. I wonder if anyone other than VQ has put any thought into making the hammers,...

I too have much interest in this new design. I am kinda on the fence waiting to see or hear if they are going to have an offering in .45 or not. Anyone heard anything about this yet? Or should I just start scraping the pennies together now and get this one and then get a "SR45" if and when it comes ...

Interesting exercise. Read your post and spent a good ten minutes looking around for any parts that were still available. Found a nice VQ MKII trigger in stainless, those are getting a little more rare, but no hammers. I think that I read somewhere that the MKIII hammers with an MKII bushing do the ...
