Went to the back room and found the RCBS .45 steel die set. The only scratches are on the inside of the sizing die. The die that bells the case mouth is perfect. My scratches were on the outside of the case. As I recall, I had some scratching on the inside of the case, but probably came from fragmen...

greener; Yah, about 7 years ago got into reloading .45's. RCBS steel die set(still have it in the back room using it to scavenge decapper pin and ect.). Used it for brass shells for awhile, then started using and reloading the nickel plated. After reloading an amount of nickel cases went back to bra...

Just my .02 cents Carbide dies are not a problem with nickel plated brass. Steel dies however will be ruined when the nickel flakes imbead into the dies and scratches every case that you size.(deep scratches that you can catch/ feel with your fingernail). Don't ask me how I know this :lol: Clarence ...

I use 200gr LSWC. Seat them to a thumbnail thickness of the shoulder showing above the case mouth. I use a separate crimp die adjusted to .469" With that said, I have had problems with bullets not lubed properly and leaving a lot of lead build up in the chamber from feeding at the 10 to 2 o'clock po...

Thanks for the reply Bullseye; Okay, just to clarify. If I shoot 24 bullseye 2700 tournaments over the next couple years, then my average is the total average of those 24 tournaments ? The reason I ask is that I am used to Skeet and we reaverage after each shoot per gun to the last five events and t...

What is my average and class ?
Hello all; I have shot 2 practice matches and 2 registered matches since November. With the 2 2700's now, I should be classified. What is my average and classification ? Registered matches: .22 = 837-23X CF = 780-15X .45 = 751-8X .22 = 842-25X CF = 817-14X .45 = 815-19X My guess is the last 4 guns a...

One thing that I did realize(or learn) is that you have more time than you think to shoot rapid fire. So therefor I am going to bring out the Python for center fire during our practice match once a month and see how I do with that. I would like to learn to shoot three guns well, but time will tell, ...

shot my first 2700 today
Well, I finally did it.
.22 = 821-13X
CF = 797-15X
.45 = 807-14X
Total = 2425-42X
I really enjoyed myself and had a lot of fun doing it.
Am going to do it again in 2 weeks.
Oh, by the way, no alibi's(what a relief : ).

Saw a blown .45 this weekend
I volunteered to be a line safety officer for the Arizona pistol championships so I could get the feel of bullseye shooting before I jump into it next month. A gentleman was shooting in the .45 service pistol competition and had his pistol blow. He is alright, his hand was pretty stung(only word I c...

Adam, I am not sure, I would have to contact RRA and find out. Looking at the offending bullet, I would have to say that it was due to no crimp. I went back up to 4.2gr of BE and taper crimped. So far no more problems. By the way, I joined a club here in Phoenix that is hosting the Arizona practical...

Well I had one failure to feed the other day in 200 rds. Looked like the mouth of the brass caught maybe the hood and dinged it. I normally do not crimp my ball ammo but with the wadcutter I decided to taper crimp to .469" I think that this might keep it from happening again. What say you experts ? ...

Thanks guys, I am real pleased with it so far. I think that I will drop to 4.0 gr of BE and see if it still functions good and stays accurate(wanted to start with 4.2 gr cause of the weight of the scope and the steel Leupold rings). So far 150 rds without a hiccup. OpsMgr; That Weaver rail came on t...
