I grew up shooting bulls eye matches even before I joined the Navy. One hand was the norm and I still pick up a 1911 and shove and rotate it up in the web of my hand even if I do shoot using a two handed grip. Old habits.

I have two O/U; one a Browning Superposed and the other a Winchester 101. Both are choked in skeet. I shoot the Browning best because it fits me best of the two. It's the RKLT version. The CZ has a RK too and removable chokes so I can adjust the pattern to suit the need. The SxS also has a wider sig...

SxS..........how many of you have them and what do you think
I have over and unders, semi-auto's and pumps but had never had a side by side. I finally bought a CZ Ringneck 20 GA and love it. I started out at the skeet range and have taken it out for quail a few times last year. What do you think of the side by side as a hunting gun?

It finally arrived at my FFL yesterday. Now I just have to wait until the 28th to pick it up. I did get a chance to inspect it and the trigger is really light. I bought it used but it appears to be fired very little. I have a scope that I will mount as soon as I get it and will establish a baseline ...

Garand that was smithed by Andy Nelson. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg260/win85shooter/Garands/DSC01107.jpg The garand with the walnut stock I got back in 1983 when it was called the DCM. It's unaltered from the day I got it. It appeared to have just been arsenal refinished when I got it. htt...

Andy is retired now and lives in Fallon NV. Another good friend that got me started in High Power is RJ Thomas who is in Fallon now also. I usually visit up there once a year or so. The Garand that Andy smithed for me was a prize rifle that RJ had won and I bought from him. It sounds like we may hav...

I was going to have Don build me a rifle but one of my friends in the SEAL Teams had been doing accuracy jobs on Garands for some time and some of his guns were right up there in scores with Don's rifles. Andy Nelson was my smith and he also did my M1A which he double lugged also. Both are my most a...

Not if you use it the way we've been talking about. You apply the rosin, just a little dusting to your gun hand and then grip the weapon. I've never had an issue with it harming the blueing on any of my guns. Like anything else, if you're creative enough you can find a way to harm your guns with it ...

The weight of the weapon and the manner that you shoot it has a lot to do with felt recoil. I have an accurized Garand and M1A both in 7.62 NATO/.308 that I shot competitively in the navy. The Garand is in a heavy Beech Target Stock and the M1A is in a McMillan synthetic stock. Both weapons are fair...

The 7.62x54r round is also used in the Russian sniper rifle Dragunov and although it's quality is not the same as our sniper rifles it still gets the job done, much to our dissapointment in Iraq and Afghanistan. When sniper grade ammunition is used in the SVD, the accuracy is on par with our own M24...

These are all good loads but I'm kind of old school and have used Lyman's data for more years than I can remember. My favorite using a 200 gr lyman cast bullet (#452460 mould) and #2 alloy hard cast is 3.5 gr of Bullseye for 731 fps. Very accurate and makes a pound of powder last a long time. I only...

The 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge is not identical to the commercial .308 Winchester but it can be interchanged. The 7.62x39 is the AK-47 round and the 7.62x63 is the metric equivalent to the 30-06. Your round is also known as the 7.62 Russian and is very accurate especially when loaded with the Sierra 1...
