JackD Nice rifle. My first firearm was a Winchester 60A that my father passed on to me. As a kid I loved that gun and eventually when my youngest son was old enough to appreciate the rifle, I passed it on to him. Now that he has a child of his own, I expect that he will most likely pass it on too. G...

Follow up

Well, I got the screws out of the bushings finally. I finally flattened the sides of the bushings and clamped them in a machinist vice. Then with considerable force, removed the screws. I have no idea what kind of sealant was used on those screws, but I hope I don't encounter any more of it. Thanks ...

Gman If you're just planning on going to the range and shooting paper, or doing a little plinking, I think there is nothing wrong with using bulk packaged ammo from Federal, Remington, or Winchester. It's what I use when I'm just practicing and it's plenty accurate for that purpose, cheap to buy, an...

Thanks for the tips Bullseye. I'm going to give the Loctite the bushings trick a try first and see how that goes. If it doesn't work, I'll move to the second tip and give that a try. I will ultimately get them apart eventually even if it means drilling them out or milling the heads off of the screws...

1911 grip screw bushing removal

Okay, I admit, I'm stumped. I'm trying to replace the grips on a 1911 and when I attempted to remove the grip screws, the bushings unscrewed themselves from the frame, leaving the screws still installed in the grips. It appears, that someone used a thread sealant on the screw threads. I do not want ...

I nearly always shoot a handgun with two hands, however, from time to time, I will shoot with my strong side and then with my weak side, just to be a bit familar with what it feels like. When I do shoot with one hand, it sure feels strange and of course, with the weak hand it feels extremely odd. Ev...

Interesting

Well, it's a great forum Bullseye and I for one would not mind chipping in a few bucks to help with your cost. It is rare that someone will spend their own money and time to help others, when there is nothing for them to gain financially. Not to mention the expert information....WITH photos too! You...

That's why came here

The problems they were having back then, lead me to come here and join this forum, however I had not been to MarkIII.org for quite a long time and didn't realize they were gone for good. I thought that perhaps they were just suffering problems again. Well as has been said in the past; everything cha...

MKIII dot Org

I've been meaning to ask this question for a while, but I keep forgetting to do so. Must be an age thing. Anyway, the question is: does anyone know what happened to MKIII.org? I know they had plenty of problems with hackers and such in the past, but I haven't a clue as to what is going on with them ...

I took the offending magazine and pistol to the range today. The results was near perfection. Out of roughly 200 rds fired from this magazine, only two ejection failures. One was similiar to the FTEs that I was experiencing prior to filing the magazine retention dimple (this was after the initial fi...

Well, I filed on the mag again today and the gap between the ejector and the feed lips, is similiar to the good mags. I will give it a try again sometime this week and report back on the results.

Bullseye, that is exactly what the two good magazines look like when inserted. A space between the feed lips and the ejector of about the thickness of a paper match stick. The offending magazine's feed lip actually touches that ejector. I'm going to file off enough of the bump so that there is a sim...

more mag issues

I finally made it to the range today and tried out my new MKIII. The wife went along too, with her new MKIII 22/45. Her pistol performed flawlessly and her only complaint was that she should have bought one sooner. My MKIII however, had numerous stove pipes during the several hundred rounds I fired ...
