Re: About gone but not forgetten

It's been a long time and I see some familiar names. Hope everyone has made the year I seem to have missed well.

Just as I had cataract surgery that fixed my distance vision covid kicked in.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Re: 45 caliber sizes

I've been using the same powder load for 230 and 250gr bullets for .45 Colt loads for quite a while. I don't recall ever loading ACP with 250 gr. If I did, I'd probably shoot them in my ACP cylinder for the Blackhawk. I've gotten good results with 200 and 230 gr ACP loads in my 1911's and haven't be...

Re: Bullseye powder

I've used Bullseye for a number of loads and rounds. Years ago, on another forum, there were long threads about how bad and dangerous Bullseye was and no one could safely load it because of power and pressure, if I recall correctly. But reading the expert commentary, I was surprised that my powder b...

Re: First post of 2018, first since Christmas!

I keep referring people to this site because it is technically very sound.

I haven't done much in the way of mods or purchases in some time.

New and Improved Walther P22

Just watched the 22 Plinkster review of the Walther P22. Too little, too late? Fixes they should have done a long time ago. They seem to have made some cosmetic changes, put in a decocker and changed the recoil spring. The latter may be the fix they needed. Out of the box about 10 years ago, mine ha...

Re: Photobucket 3rd party hosting charge

I've still used photobucket for embedding photos. Don't do much of that anymore.

I've got picassa.

My computer thinks I have around 31k pictures. Picassa is the easiest way to find things despite my best efforts to organize the.

Photobucket 3rd party hosting charge

The only plan they have that allows it is $399/year. http://photobucket.com/terms Available Plus Account Plans : Photobucket offers the following Plus Account Plans: o Plus 50 Plan: 52 GB of Storage for $59.99 / Year. The Plus 50 Plan d...

Re: MK IV recall

I believe Ruger has long had a policy of replacing non-standard parts with their parts. Probably something to do with liability. If I were to return one of my VQ mod pistols, I'd replace the original parts before it went and put the VQ parts back in on return. If VQ fixes the problem, why would you ...

Re: MK IV recall

If it was just a parts replacement, easier to do it yourself. However, Ruger's liability is too great for them to let yahoo's like me replace parts.

MK IV recall

Ruger has issued a recall for MK IV's built before June 1, 2017, because of a potential defect in the safety.

Re: Mystery Scratch

Looks sort of deep, but probably no safety problem and I don't see a problem that would affect function.

Re: The Dark Side

I'm amazed that it has been a year. Most of my darkside shooting has been with new ammo. The problem I had with the Glock and my reloads seems to be a relatively tight chamber on the Glock. I recently used the barrel as a gauge and ran my reloads through a Lee factory crimp die. The amount of crimp ...

Re: Mystery Scratch

I thought I had responded. Checked the recoil assembly and didn't see any unusual wear. If it was the butterfly, wouldn't it be more along the receiver axis?

100 rounds and the pistol functioned flawlessly after cleaning. Can't say the same for the operator.

Mystery Scratch

Found a fairly deep scratch in the receiver of my MKII GC. No idea what caused it. It's been a while since I cleaned the pistol so I don't know when it got scratched. The bolt on my MKII GC started coming back in a jerky motion when fired. Bgreene thought it was dry and it did improve after I did a ...
