You sometimes hear that 686 revolvers are not designed to fire mostly .357s and will loosen up if you mostly shoot a lot of .357s rather than .38s. I do not know how true or untrue that is because I mostly fire .38s anyway in both my Smiths and my Rugers.

Yes, I agree. I was curious if anyone had done it, how it worked out, and maybe see if someone had a photo. I have an Aimpoint H-1 on my Mark III and it has worked out well:

EOTech XPS sight on Mark pistol

Has anyone here ever tried mounting the EOTech XPS sight on a Mark pistol? Wonder how that would work out? I am running the XPS on my SR556E rifle and 10/22 but haven't seen anyone using it on a Mark or other pistol. It should mount satisfactorily to the Weaver rail with which the Mark III comes?

Thank you for all the good info. The 77 grain did in fact yield very good results. Not bad with 55 grain either.

Best ammo for new Ruger SR556

I just plunked down my dough for a Ruger SR556. I would like to lay in a store of ammo -- does this gun have any "preferences" that way? Was looking at Federal 55 gr. which seems reasonably cheap. Anyone out there have experience with this rifle?

I tried the Trimags in both my stock Ruger 10/22 carbine and my new Ruger 10/22 Takedown. They worked great! Here in California we cannot use magazines with more than 10 round capacity, so the Trimag idea is perfect for this benighted state. Love the Trimags and bought several more.

Re: Help for bad eyes

Thanks again, guys. Last Saturday, my LGS had a red dot tube scope (1X) already mounted on a MK II he had on consignment. I checked it out in the store and could see it well enough at the highest brightness setting. So, I agree that the tube type red dot may have an advantage for me versus the open...

I mounted an Aimpoint H-1 on my Ruger Mark III and it is an extremely good red-dot sight; maybe the best.

Before you give up on red-dot sights you might give it a try. The tube-type of red-dot has certain advantages over the holographic/reflex variety.

Once my LGS gets them on the display shelf I imagine I will plink down the dough... The Single Ten looks like a winner. I have come to really like fiber optic sights, too. My son has a Single Six and we love it. This seems like a nice complement to it. It would have been nice if they also made a mag...

I've now put over 500 rounds through her. Excepting one flat-out dud round, which I simply ejected, not a single hiccup using cheap Federal 525. This gun is a real shooter. I do like the front Hi Viz fiber optical sight. Even in the crummy light at our local range it helps a lot.

Minor makeover on Mark II target

Well, one of my local gunstores had a used Mark II Target on the consignment shelf. The gun was a little dirty and neglected, but when I inspected it it was pretty clear that the gun had no corrosion and very few nicks or dings. (A couple on the rear sight probably from either holster abrasion or sc...

Good thread and good info, fellows. I just bought a 1980 Mark II. I'll keep an eye on the bolt and if any problems, off to Ruger it goes.

Half the reason for buying Ruger is the way they stand behind their firearms.

New Beretta 92fs on the block

Well, I finally got by California's 30 day waiting period between handgun purchases, + 10 day wait period = 40 day wait. (Is California screwed up or what?) Picked up my new Beretta 92fs today!
